We are seeking a skilled teacher aide who will bring excellent skills, understanding and enthusiasm for working collaboratively in the education of children. The successful applicant will join a dynamic team lead by our Support Teacher: Inclusive Education. This team provides support for the learning of students with a diverse range of needs. A passion for working with students with learning difficulties and disabilities is essential for this role. The successful applicant must exhibit a mature, well-developed belief in the learning growth potential of every student, as well as display proven communication and interpersonal skills and an understanding of the work of a primary classroom. A demonstrated ability to build rapport with students and staff is essential, as is the capacity to work collaboratively and independently. The role holder will assist with the implementation of a variety of learning programs and may work with students in the classroom, individually and in small groups. Experience in supporting students particularly in the upper years of primary schooling is highly desirable, as is the ability to deliver and monitor intensive reading support. An ability to work flexibly in order to meet the diverse needs of learners is required. The successful applicant will need to be able to work four days per week, approximately three hours per day. This position operates within the Catholic educational environment and culture and will be supportive of the Catholic ethos and mission of the school. This is a school officer level 3 position.


St Peter Chanel is situated in The Gap and draws on the traditions and ethos of the Marist fathers and the Sisters of Charity who founded our school. The school is set in beautiful grounds and is well resourced. We provide an inclusive curriculum and environment that caters for just under 400 students from Prep to Year 6. Weeks Worked:  School term weeks only - holidays unpaid

Tenure Duration (If Fixed Term):   January 29 - December, 2019. (23-26 January 2019 also available)

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required:   12 hours per week - The successful applicant will need to be able to work four days per week, approximately three hours per day.

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate:   Level 3 School Officers - Non Governmental Schools

Employment Conditions:   Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement 2015-2019


This position involves working with children.  The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
