The Role
We are looking to appoint an efficient and reliable School Secretary to start September 2020 at Falcons School for Girls as part of a job share role.
This support role requires a committed, flexible, willing and energetic person to assist pupils, parents and staff and help to ensure the smooth running of the school.
This is a really exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, supportive and caring person who works with equal efficacy both independently and as part of a team. This position will be a varied and busy role and would suit someone kind, highly organised and with a great eye for detail.
Knowledge of SIMS is desirable as is a First Aid qualification, although training will be provided.
Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 12.30pm until 5.00pm.
Salary: £14,778.73 part-time, term-time (35 weeks a year) (fte £34,852)

The School
At Falcons Girls we offer a traditional independent girls’ school education for girls aged four to eleven years, with outstanding preparation for 11+ examinations.

Responsibilities
Answer the main school telephone and take messages as appropriate
Organise the daily bus schedule and deal with any matters which may arise
Keep the School database, SIMS up to date with pupil and parent information
Record pupil absences and deal with the registers on a daily basis for purpose of Health and Safety
Collate and distribute the weekly staff bulletin
Respond to any parental and staff enquiries as appropriate
Respond to any emails, briefing the Headmistresses’ PA if matters of concern arise
Answer the door to visitors and suppliers as required and take responsibility for the signing in and out procedure
Administer first aid as appropriate
Assist with administrative tasks as requested, to help with the smooth running of the school
Deal with the incoming and outgoing post, franking the outgoing post
Book transport for school trips
Keep pupil files up to date
Order stationery for the school, liaising with the budget holder
Organise the repairs of printers and copiers
Skills required
Highly effective communication skills
Excellent ICT skills, in particular in the Office 365suite of applications
Ability to work on own initiative
Excellent organisation and planning skills
Ability to approach confidential matters with discretion, sensitivity and diplomacy
Ability to liaise confidently with all staff, parents and the wider community
Friendly, enthusiastic, approachable
