About the Role 

Science Faculty Support

  • Liaise with teaching staff on their needs for practical work and maintain an efficient system for use and allocation of materials and equipment, setting a priority system where necessary.
  • Assist teaching staff with demonstrations, including acting as a demonstrator.
  • Assist teaching staff in instructing students on use/care of equipment during science experiments.
  • Advise and assist teaching staff in safety matters relating to the science laboratory.
  • Prepare safety assessments for activities in the preparation area and, in conjunction with the teacher, in the teaching laboratory.
  • Assist with the use of computers and learning technologies within the department.
  • Assist with the development of operational and WHS within the Science Department.
  • Prepare solutions, stains and media for use in the laboratory.
  • Maintain a safe chemical storage/handling/disposal system in accordance with current regulations.
  • Assist with security of science laboratory and equipment.
  • Maintain an inventory of equipment.
  • Acquire relevant catalogues and price lists.
  • Carry out and/or coordinate labelling, storage, stocktaking and ordering of equipment and chemicals.
  • Service and clean simple laboratory apparatus/equipment.
  • Develop maintenance procedures for laboratory equipment.

Industrial Technology Faculty Support

  • Liaise with teaching staff on their needs for practical work and assist with maintaining an efficient workshop environment.
  • Assist teaching staff with demonstrations, including acting as a demonstrator.
  • Assist teaching staff in instructing students on use/care of equipment during practical classes.
  • Advise and assist teaching staff in safety matters relating to the workshop.
  • Prepare safety assessments for activities in conjunction with the teacher, in the workshop.
  • Assist with the use of computers and learning technologies within the department.
  • Assist with the development of operational and WHS within the Industrial Technology Department.
  • Conduct a weekly deep clean of the workshop environment.
  • Maintain an inventory of equipment.
  • Acquire relevant catalogues and price lists and assist with ordering material.
  • Carry out and/or coordinate labelling, storage, stocktaking and ordering of equipment and chemicals.
  • Clean simple workshop equipment.
  • Develop maintenance procedures for workshop equipment.

Essential Criteria 

  • Hold a relevant Working With Children's Check and be willing to receive training in chemical handling and white card.
  • An understanding of and commitment to the vision and mission of St Anne’s Catholic College.
  • Able to work unsupervised as well as being part of a team.
  • Show initiative and be entrepreneurial and flexible.
  • Is energetic, punctual, and organised.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail especially in relation to managing quality control.
  • Relevant experience working with chemicals and workshops or willingness to be trained.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
