We are looking for an energetic, experienced and flexible Chemistry teacher to join our current team of talented scientists.  The department has four well equipped labs, as well as a large prep room and enjoys the support of a lab technician. The science department offers a KS3 curriculum based on the English National Curriculum and at KS4 offers Cambridge IGCSEs in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Co-ordinated Science.  All 3 sciences are also offered at IB.  Experience of teaching Chemistry to I/GCSE and A level/IB is essential for this post, and experience of teaching all 3 sciences at KS3 is highly desirable.

We have a vibrant extra-curricular programme across the school, and candidates able to coach sports, especially football, swimming and basketball, or who would be keen to lead our MUN programme, would be particularly welcome.

Garden International School is a coeducational school of around 460 students, with classes from Early Years to Year 13.  We have over 40 nationalities represented in our community and use an educational framework based on the English National Curriculum, leading to IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.  Many of our students have English as a second, or even third, language; these students are supported by a strong English Language Support department. We have a small boarding facility, and the school has a wonderful sense of community.  Class sizes are generally small, with the students well motivated, engaged in their learning and supported by their families. Year on year our results are impressive with around 90% of students achieving 5 or more A*-C grades at IGCSE, and an IB average point score of around 33 (world average around 30).

Our school is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) and the Thai Ministry of Education (ONESQA). We are affiliated to the International Schools Association of Thailand (ISAT) and the Department for Education in the United Kingdom. We are also a founder member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA).

Ban Chang is a semi-rural coastal town in Rayong Province, about 2 hours from Bangkok and 45 minutes from both the tourist hot-spot of Pattaya, and the bustling town of Rayong. Thailand is a vibrant and exciting country with rich cultural experiences, it is a beautiful part of the world with friendly people, year round sun and is a safe place to work overseas. The cost of living is reasonable and teachers tend to avail themselves of high quality holiday experiences in the region.

The health, safety and well-being of all of the students at Garden International School is the foremost concern of all of the adults employed by the school.  Aligned with the recommendations of the International Task Force on Child Protection, we hold ourselves to a high standard of effective recruiting practices with specific attention to child protection.  Appointed teachers from the United Kingdom are required to provide, at their own cost (of about GBP 60), and before travel arrangements are confirmed, an International Child Protection Certificate (UK) (refer: http://www.acro.police.uk/ICPC/). Full police clearance, covering at least the previous 10 years, is necessary for all appointees who are working, or who have worked, in countries outside the United Kingdom. To assist newly appointed staff, there is a country by country check list for the procedures for obtaining a police clearance: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/criminal-records-checks-for-overseas-applicants

Please see the information attached for further information about the school, the employment package and life in Thailand, as well as guidelines regarding how to apply.

Early applications are encouraged and applications will be assessed as they arrive. We reserve the right to close the selection process early should an exceptional candidate be identified at an early stage.
