Job overview

Working in a school can be one of the most rewarding, exhilarating and exciting places to be. We spend a considerable amount of time at work, so it is vital that we are in a place where we feel supported, fulfilled and can enjoy our working life.  We believe we have this at Cleeve Meadow School. We are looking for an inspirational leader to come and join a strong and happy team that is proud to provide an excellent education for our fantastic students.

Cleeve Meadow School is an ambitious and dynamic new SEND school providing a highly specialised education for 120 students between 11 and 19 years of age, who have moderate learning difficulties and may have associated additional needs.  Our school is a place where traditional values meet innovation.  We have staff who are passionate about the very best education for our young people and aim to inspire our students to be ambitious learners.  Our students are at the heart of everything we do.  We celebrate personal and academic successes, recognising that our students come from different starting points and have their own personal challenges to overcome. Together, working in partnership with parents and carers, we successfully foster and develop a positive attitude in our young people and a belief in achieving beyond their expectations.

The school is particularly distinctive from existing local provisions as it works in dual partnership with its co-located mainstream school, Cleeve Park, wherever possible to maximise inclusivity of SEN students to mainstream education and providing access to mainstream teaching and shared facilities.  Staff also benefit from partnership working and shared professional development.

Cleeve Meadow aims to ensure that all students have the maximum opportunity to participate fully in society to enhance their life chances.  The support and guidance students receive from staff will give them the confidence to learn independently and strive to achieve.  The school aims to be a centre of excellence for its students, parents/carers, staff, local authorities and the wider community.

We are looking to appoint an ambitious and creative qualified teacher to join our team and share our vision to transform children’s lives. The successful applicant will be committed to the holistic development of our young people, be an excellent communicator and have a passion for teaching and learning. If you are a truly inspirational and forward-thinking practitioner, with the energy and passion to change lives, this could be an excellent opportunity for you.

For this role, you will have:

As subject teacher for Science, you will have the knowledge and skills to be able to:

- Support the school vision to instil a love of Science in all students.

- To effectively deliver and develop the subject across the school, building core knowledge to support student progression.

- To ensure effective implementation of the curriculum working alongside colleagues in the mainstream setting.

- To ensure the standards of teaching across the subject areas are consistently good or better.

- To ensure effective assessment and tracking procedures are in place.

- To ensure students meet their progress and attainment targets

Working for TKAT:

In return, as an employee of The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT), you will benefit from:

● A wide variety of opportunities for professional development, including the potential to develop your career at more than one TKAT academy;

● Opportunities to work flexibly, where possible;

● Our support for your wellbeing at work; and

● The rewards of working to improve the life chances of our pupils.

Safeguarding

TKAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Offers of employment will be subject to the full Safer Recruitment process, including an enhanced disclosure and barring service check.

About Cleeve Meadow School

In April 2017 the Department for Education announced that The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT) had been successful in its application to open a special free school in Bexley. TKAT will manage the school as part of its family of 44 Academies across London and the South of England.

Cleeve Meadow School, once completed, will provide highly specialised education for 120 pupils between 11 and 19 years of age, who have moderate learning difficulties and may have associated additional needs. These may include; speech and communication difficulties, autism and sensory impairments.

This school project is particularly exciting due to its co-location with an existing secondary school – Cleeve Park School.  Being located on the same site as a successful secondary school means that Cleeve Meadow will be distinctive from existing local provision and unusual from a national perspective as it will work in partnership with Cleeve Park, wherever possible, to maximise inclusion of SEN pupils in mainstream education by providing access to mainstream teaching and shared facilities. In return, pupils at Cleeve Park School will benefit from cutting-edge performing arts facilities, refurbished learning spaces and a multi-use games area.

With consideration of the challenges and difficulties young people with MLD and associated difficulties often face,  the Free School will focus on achieving the following outcomes and key Performance Indicators.:-

High levels of progress and achievement in all areas of learning

  • The majority of students to make above expected progress in the core subjects
  • 100% of students in training, education or employment after leaving school

For students to become independent and socially competent adults with good emotional wellbeing and the confidence and skills to play a positive role in society

  • 100% of students to meet their personal, social and therapeutic targets as set in their Personalised learning Plan
  • 100 % of students are able to participate in a particular activity or extra -curricular activity
  • 100% of parents and students are satisfied with the school and would recommend it to others

 The school will become a centre of excellence

  • 100% of teaching will be good or better
  • The Inclusive Expressive Arts provision will be considered as exemplary
  • The school will be outstanding in its Ofsted judgement.
