This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a school that focuses relentlessly on raising standards and invests in the development of both staff and students. In March 2017, we were graded as being a ‘Good’ school and we have a clear mission to be Outstanding by 2020.

We proudly serve our local community, attracting students from a wide range of backgrounds and are part of GLF Schools, which is a supportive family of 27 schools. Successful candidates will have exceptional career development opportunities as a colleague in this family and there are a number of opportunities to work collaboratively across the multi academy trust.

The successful candidate will need to:

We can offer you:

● a highly supportive and aspirational department to work in
● exceptional CPD opportunities through our tailored CPD programme
● the opportunity to develop your teaching career with the possibility of moving into whole school leadership roles
● an opportunity to work in the GLF family of schools

I am proud to be Headteacher at The Beacon and I feel privileged to be able to work each day with such exceptional students and staff. I am excited to be able to lead the school on the next chapter of its journey towards excellence.

We are a dynamic and vibrant community where everyone is individually valued. Our aim as a school is to provide a world-class education where students can fulfil their potential and grow into happy, kind and well-rounded individuals. We strive for students to develop their resourcefulness, and resilience, accept responsibility and be challenged to take risks in order to learn and succeed.

We want all students to achieve the best possible qualifications, so that as many doors as possible are open to them in the future. Equally, we are also committed to our students gaining key skills that prepare them for life in the 21st century and for them to become passionate about life-long learning beyond the classroom.

We have high expectations of each other and recognise that everyone learns differently. We expect our students to work hard and behave well both inside and outside of the classroom. Our values of Endeavour, Kindness, Community, Ambition and Integrity are at the core of everything we do and we will continually look for ways to improve each day.

We have high ambitions for our students and believe they only have one chance at school. We believe it is our job to work together as staff and parents to support, motivate, guide and challenge each one of them in order for them to become the best they possibly can be.

Please come and visit us and take the opportunity to talk to me, our staff and most importantly our students who are great ambassadors for the school and will explain what life is like at The Beacon

I look forward to welcoming you to our school.

James Grant Duff
Headteacher
