About Greenacre School
Greenacre Academy is an all-boys secondary school and sports college located in the suburb of Walderslade, Kent.
Greenacre is the founder academy in the Greenacre Academy Trust, which also includes Warren Wood Primary Academy, Chantry Community Academy, Hilltop Primary Academy, and Walderslade Girl's School.
The school operates a sixth form shared with Walderslade Girls School. The school received academy status in 2012. Our Trust facilitates the sharing of good practice across all our academies so that the impact of the best strategies is felt by all.
This approach enables governors, leaders, teachers and support staff to come together supported by a common ethos. Each academy is a giver and receiver of support irrespective of their Ofsted grading or performance table position.
Values and vision
Greenacre Academy places a special emphasis on vocational and personal skills. This priority is directed through the school’s Skills for Life focus, which serves as the foundation for all aspects of school life. The academy sustains and develops links with local businesses and beyond, in the hopes of offering career guidance that may inspire pupils for the future.
Location
Greenacre Academy is located in Walderslade, which is one of the villages in the Medway towns in South East England. Medway has excellent transport links and is only 30 miles from London. High speed trains link Medway to London in just 35 minutes.
Continuing Professional Development
We take a bespoke approach to our staff development. We don’t believe that “one size fits all”. We understand that each member of staff requires support that meets their needs and is impactful on their practise as a teacher. As well as timely advice, we offer a wide range of development opportunities and training pathways delivered in a variety of ways.
Meeting the needs of each career stage is important to keep our staff engaged and motivated towards reaching the next steps in their development.
Our weekly Development Meetings ensure that time is properly allocated for staff to stay current in a constantly changing educational landscape.
Future
We have a vision that children in our academies will learn ‘Skills for Life’ which is our vision for the future of the Trust. By this we mean that in addition to being taught everything which children need to learn in school, our children will also be taught life skills such as cooking, speaking in public, answering the telephone etc. which will help them to stand out and ultimately become more confident adults when that time comes.
To further help them in their journey to adulthood, the children are regularly exposed to careers assemblies so that at an early stage, they are able to see what future opportunities are out there for them.
