Friesland School is an 11-18 Foundation School with nearly 1300 students on roll located on the border of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, very close to Junction 25 of the M1 with good travel links in all directions. We are a successful school, judged as ‘good’ by OFSTED in May 2015, with traditional values and a positive reputation that counts for much in the local community. We believe in the potential of all our students and as staff we strive constantly to help them achieve it. We believe in the importance of academic achievement but also value highly the personal and social education of all students. Underpinning everything we do is our core purpose of learning and teaching.
Our vision is to turn Friesland from a good school into an outstanding one. We believe the vision can be achieved by maintaining the school’s track record on academic success whilst ensuring that we meet the needs of all our students. This means that we must constantly refine and develop a curriculum that matches the right courses to the right students and one that offers progression routes allowing success for all. It must be a curriculum that is both innovative and engages all our learners. Students must both enjoy and be challenged by their learning. This requires strong strategic leadership from the Headteacher working with the Governing Body and Leadership Group to develop a fantastic team of talented staff and students.
We are looking to appoint two full-time permanent Teachers of Science from September 2018. The posts are for qualified Teachers who are enthusiastic, ambitious and able to teach across all the key stages in Science. The two posts have become available due to our expanding curriculum offer in Science across all three key stages.
Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
