Job overview

We wish to appoint a Science Technician to join our successful Science Department from January 2019.  Working as part of the technician team the postholder will be responsible for preparing equipment for lessons and experiments, preparing for examinations, ensuring all apparatus and chemicals are stored correctly and adhering to COSHH standards.

Previous experience of working in a school science lab would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will have good organisational skills, be a confident ICT user and be willing to work alone as well as part of a team. You will also need to demonstrate real enthusiasm for the subject area along with the ability to communicate effectively with young people aged 11 – 16.

Salary: Scale 5 (point 23 – 25) £24738 - £26136 pro-rata

Hours:   27½ hours a week, 39 weeks a year (term time only plus 5 Inset Days)

The Leathersellers’ Federation of schools is made up of a group of three secondary and two primary schools as well as Prendergast 6th Form.  We are very fortunate to be part of the Federation and receive a lot of support from the Leathersellers’ Company, which helps our pupils succeed.
