Job overview

Thank you for your interest in the key post of School Technician (Science) at The Elmgreen School. The purpose of the role is to support the effective and efficient teaching and learning in the Science Department through the provision of technical and other support. A good science background is essential as are excellent organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities        

  • Under the direction of the Senior Science Technician to prepare practical resources, equipment and materials to meet the needs of the science curriculum. 
  • To give technical advice to teachers and students.
  • To assist class teachers with or to carry out demonstrations of scientific experiments. 
  • To ensure the maintenance of a healthy and safe working environment. 
  • To provide technical advice and support on health and safety issues to teaching staff and students.

About The Elmgreen School

The Elmgreen School is a unique 11-18 secondary school. It is a non denominational mixed school which opened to its first cohort of year 7 students in September 2007.   The secondary Hearing Impaired Unit is co-located within the school. We will reach our full complement of 1100 students in 2014 which will include a 200 place sixth form. The school moved to its inspirational new building in September 2009.

The school is non selective and provides a creative and innovative curriculum, encouraging the highest standards of teaching and learning within an ethos of mutual respect, harmony and achievement.
