School term time only
Founded in 1646, Reading Blue Coat School is a leading independent day school of 490 boys aged 11 – 16, with a further 270 students in the co-educational Sixth Form. Set in a beautiful country estate of 46 acres of sport fields, grounds and woodlands overlooking the River Thames in the village of Sonning, just outside Reading, we provide a wonderful working environment.
The School employs over 170 staff and offers a stimulating, friendly and supportive environment in which each pupil can realise his or her full intellectual, physical and creative potential.
We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and energetic technician to support our Science teaching by maintaining equipment, and preparing and setting out apparatus for daily teaching, and for examination practicals.
Duties will predominantly be engaged with supporting our Physics and Electronics teachers, but you may also support the other science subjects when required.
This is a busy role, working Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 16:30, during the School academic terms only for 35.4 weeks of the year. Part time working on a job share basis will be considered for suitable applicants.
Applicants should be technically skilled; have good attention to detail; be equally confident working unsupervised and within a team; interact effectively with pupils; and have a qualification (preferably to at least ‘A’ level or BTEC level 3) in a science based subject.
We offer an excellent salary and benefits package, dependent on qualifications and experience; including pension scheme with 8% employer contribution; free meals and refreshments on duty, and a wide range of other employee benefits.
