Closing date:   Thursday 19 April 12 Noon

Interview Date:  to be confirmed

High Storrs is a very successful high-performing comprehensive school and have recently become a member of the Minerva Learning Trust. We are situated on the edge of the Peak District and within easy access of Sheffield. In November 2013 the school was graded good by Ofsted with Outstanding for the Sixth Form and student behaviour. Having completed a major refurbishment of our Grade II listed building as part of the BSF programme, we are excited about the future, building upon proven success. We are an ambitious and over-subscribed multicultural learning community with high expectations and high aspirations. In the 2017 GCSE results, we had the best scores for 5+ in both Maths and English for all the state-funded schools in Sheffield, with the Maths results being 83% achieving level 4-9, 70% 5-9 and 14% grade 9’s (31 students).

Due to the recent promotion of the current post holder, we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic second in department for September 2018. You would be expected to teach Years 7 to 13, have knowledge of the new 9-1 GCSE curriculum and experience of teaching A-level Maths and the drive and vision to help further develop a high performing team.

You will join an outstanding Maths team in this vibrant curriculum area, work very closely with an excellent department to achieve the best possible outcomes and ensure to give the best learning experience for our students. If you are an established teacher now who wishes to extend their experience in this excellent 11-18 specialist school, we would love to hear from you.

Ofsted Inspectors commented: ‘Well done. It has been a joy to be here, teachers are such positive role models’

If you believe that teaching and learning are the most important activities in a school then we welcome an application outlining which area of the Maths Curriculum you feel that you are most experienced to lead on.

For further information please visit our website (www.highstorrs.co.uk), or contact the school via telephone, fax or email j.wright@highstorrs.sheffield.sch.uk. To apply, download an application form our website and submit an electronic application addressed to The Headteacher via email to afoulkes4@highstorrs.sheffield.sch.uk. Please provide telephone numbers and email addresses for yourself and referees.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share their commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Head Teacher – Claire Tasker

At High Storrs, we believe in nurturing each student's potential, fostering a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom. With a rich history dating back over 100 years, our school has consistently been at the forefront of educational excellence, providing a dynamic environment where students thrive academically, socially, and personally.

Our curriculum is innovative with a wider range of GCSE and A level subjects on offer than most. Our core subjects are very strong with many students going on to study STEM subjects at A Level. Equally, we are renowned for our creativity and strong Arts curriculum with students of all ages excelling in Dance Drama, Music, Art, and Film Studies. We are also one of a small number of state schools nationally that teach Classics and Latin.

Values and vision

Our school prides itself on its strong academic record, with a high percentage of students consistently achieving top grades in their GCSE and A-level examinations. Additionally, our extensive extracurricular program, which includes over 50 clubs and activities, allows students to develop skills outside of the classroom and pursue their passions in sport, literature, history, ecology, the arts, STEM and much more.

High Storrs School is not just about academic achievement; it's about holistic development. Our pastoral care system ensures that students feel supported and valued, promoting their social, emotional, and personal growth alongside their academic success. At KS3 and 4 we have a strong House system and vertical tutor groups that support our students to ‘learn, succeed and thrive’. We are an inclusive, happy and successful community.
