Contract type: Full Time
Salary: Undisclosed
Contract term: Permanent
Suitable for NQTs: No

The British School of Valencia is a British teaching institution located in the centre of the city of Valencia, founded in 1992. From the beginning it has sought to offer a distinct teaching model, basing its educational project on the two key pillars of respect and tolerance and where the pupils can continue with their ongoing personal development over their time at school. In addition it aims to ensure pupils’ consolidated learning in a foreign language from a very early age, responding to the growing demands of today’s society.

Initially the centre opened its doors only for primary school pupils, deciding to include a further academic level each school year. This model has allowed us to ensure the application of the teaching model we originally envisaged and continue to strive to improve. It is extremely satisfying to see how our pupils who started primary school with us, today having finished school, are now young people with an excellent academic and personal preparation who are able to tackle their university studies with confidence and enthusiasm.  We have now grown to a school with nearly 900 students and over 37 nationalities which has helped the school grow both in vision and values.

Recently acquired by the Cognita Group, this has allowed us to grow, develop and become part of a global network of schools.

Cognita’s network of 73 schools across  3 continents, combined with our investment in the professional development of our people, means we can now offer continuous opportunities for professional development and career opportunities on a global scale.

We are now recruiting a Secondary Biology/Science Teacher to teach across the entire age range in our Secondary school.
This will include teaching general science to KS3 and then specialist science to KS 4 and KS 5.  This is a full-time position and we are looking to form a team of inspiring and motivated teachers with a love for education and an interest in providing the best possible future for our students.

The key skills we are looking for:

• Solid knowledge of the British Curriculum with appropriate British experience and qualifications.

• To be able to work effectively as part of the Science department in order to produce a rounded and exciting Chemistry curriculum.

• Able to track pupil progress, identifying under and high achieving and students and implementing intervention to enable students of all abilities and leaning styles.

• Provide feedback and communicate effectively with parents and pupils.

“Cognita Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment. Safer recruitment practice and pre-employment background checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed.”

Closing date for applications will be 31st March 2020.
