Secondary Coordinator

The Head of Secondary will provide professional leadership as part of the Management Team of Middleton International School.  He / she will be responsible for the execution of professional duties and responsibilities to meet the following:

Job Role & Responsibilities

Curriculum Planning 

· You oversee the setting up, writing and production of high quality Secondary Years reports to parents according to the schedule

· Together with the Principal, you will monitor standards through, work scrutiny’s, department reviews, observations, teacher and student feedback and individual appraisal of staff

· You will ensure that the department curriculum documentation for the Secondary Years is consistent in terms of layout and content in line with school’s policy

· You will ensure that the department curriculum documentation ensures a breadth of knowledge and progression of skills that will cater to all groups of students.

· You are responsible for the updating of handbooks and job descriptions

· You are responsible for the internal and external assessment and the tracking of student progress

Student Support

· You will work closely with the Principal and may attend meetings

· You will be responsible for all health and safety matters both on and off campus including overseeing school trips according to school policies

· You will ensure that the students receive pastoral care

· You will ensure that a comprehensive PSHE programme is in place that provides for the needs of all students

· You will be responsible for implementing a positive behavioral programme and ensure that the policy is clearly communicated, understood and adhered to

Resource Management

· You will suggest suitable recourses to support the implementation of the programme to the Principal

· You will ensure that all departments are adequately resourced to provide high quality curriculum delivery

Professional Development

· You will be responsible for monitoring and raising the quality of teaching and learning in the Secondary Years

· Together with the Principal, you will be responsible for the running of a rigorous performance management process for Secondary staff that takes account of both personal and school developmental needs

· You will oversee a program of professional development opportunities, in liaison with the Principal, both internal and external, which links to school needs and the performance management process

Communication

· You will liaise on all matters pertaining to the Secondary Years Programme 

· Set up systems for communication and collaboration between all staff members

· Conduct parent information sessions

· Publish articles pertaining to the programme in the school newsletter

· Prepare and submit any documentation required for authorization and evaluation

Other projects

· You will be responsible for Secondary Years admission

· You will teach classes as required by the Principal and school’s needs

Job Requirements

· A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education  6 - 8 years of direct work experience in Secondary Years

· Strong knowledge and experience in IGCSE 

· Experience in secondary leadership in a school environment

· Highly developed intrapersonal and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated experience in management and leadership is desirable.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
