Are you a senior leader or school improvement professional who is passionate about supporting and helping schools to develop?

If you want to make a difference as a system leader and are looking for a new opportunity, we would like to hear from you.

Herts for Learning (HfL) is looking to recruit a School Effectiveness Adviser to work as part of a team supporting secondary schools and settings (mainstream, special and Education Support Centres). This post will be high profile and focused on system leadership to improve outcomes for all students.

You will work alongside headteachers and senior leaders, supporting their self-evaluation, quality assurance and continuous improvement planning. As part of our team, you will utilise your skills and experience to develop new products, services and training that meet the needs of the range of schools that we support. You will have some line management responsibilities. You will be self-motivated, flexible and be prepared to travel to schools throughout Hertfordshire and beyond (travel allowance paid).

We are looking for an excellent leader, with a successful background within a school, and/or local authority or MAT setting. Experience of school inspections is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will be hard working and dynamic, have a proven track record of success in raising achievement and the ability to lead and inspire others. For this very important role, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of and across teams are essential.

The team are working remotely where possible to support their schools and when required, providing onsite support to their schools in line with Government guidelines. Therefore the ability to reach different locations by car will be essential. If you drive then a full driving licence and appropriate car insurance will be required. Also as there is a permanent home working element to this role, you will need to ensure you are equipped for home working.

HfL is the largest Schools Company in the UK delivering school improvement services.  Developed from Hertfordshire Local Authority’s education services, the company is now owned and accountable directly to schools through its Board of Directors.

This is a great opportunity to join a growing and successful team and have a significant impact on large numbers of students across a range of settings.

In return, you can expect excellent conditions of employment and exciting professional development opportunities.

For an informal discussion regarding the role, please contact Rachel Macfarlane (Director of Education Services) on 07913 973738 or Liz Shapland (Deputy Education Services Director – Secondary) on 07748 148246.

If you’re ready to apply, download and complete the HfL application form along with the supporting statement, explaining how you meet the requirements of the job outline. Once completed, please submit the forms to hfl.recruitment@hertsforlearning.co.uk.

We would love to hear from you.

We believe that every young person, through access to a great education, should be able to realise their potential, regardless of where they live or their circumstances. Our work is focused on supporting the schools we work with to achieve successful long-term outcomes for their children. HFL is the UK’s largest school company, operates with a not-for-profit ethos and is majority owned by Hertfordshire schools.  Beyond maintaining sufficient reserves and financing long-term projects, any surplus made is invested in the common good and/or the development of specific new services to address key challenges for our shareholding schools. Since our inception in 2013 we have reinvested nearly £1million in activities that would not otherwise have attracted funding.
