SEMH Primary Trained Teacher - Alternative Provision

  • £120-170 per day
  • Wakefield

Due to expansion and the creation of a new class, Vision for Education is recruiting for an SEMH experienced, Primary Trained Teacher to join this growing Alternative Provision based in the Wakefield area, ideally to commence in April or May 2019. (Candidates interested in immediate starts are also welcome to apply).

The Role

Following a primary nurture model, teaching and learning is a huge focus along with students’ own well being; their social, emotional and mental health needs.

This school adopts a highly specialist approach in order to work with complex young people who have experienced and continue to experience significant challenge in their early lives.

This school exists to provide a smaller, more bespoke tailored form of education for children and young people outside of education.

Essential qualities of the successful candidate are above all things:

A positive, caring, patient and resilient attitude.

Previous experience of working with children or young people who may be challenging to engage

Experience with and / or training in SEMH, SEND and nurture principles

Must hold QTS (if you do not, please contact us regarding HLTA or cover supervisor vacancies)

A readiness to do whatever it takes to reach a young person and influence their education and life choices positively

An excellent understanding of the curriculum and the ability to make it exciting, interesting, accessible and relevant

You should show exceptional pastoral skills and calm in a crisis

Team Teach Training (12 Hour) is preferred, however this can be provided to the successful candidate free of charge, via ourselves.

This SEMH / SEND Primary Teacher role will be an initial 2 term supply contract; however it may become permanent for the right candidate.

Vision for Education is committed to safeguarding children and young people. We take our responsibilities extremely seriously. All staff we register will undertake thorough interviewing and referencing checks and hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check that must be registered on the Update Service.
