At our school we focus on preparing children for life. We do this by delivering an imaginative, creative and inspiring curriculum which motivates children to want to learn, while developing their transferable skills. We lay down firm foundations by giving Numeracy and Literacy a high priority. Art, Drama, Music, Dance and Sport also feature prominently, providing every child with challenges and opportunities to find and develop their talents and to shine. We want every child to be a good citizen, a confident communicator, discerning and kind hearted. We want them to challenge themselves and be highly motivated to achieve their best while working towards being independent.

Role & Responsibilities

It is the job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children for who s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact, to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy Statement at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School, s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead or the Head.

To be a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to a named child.

To deliver agreed support to a named child, as directed by the Class Teacher .

To maintain high levels of communication with parents with regards to both pastoral and academic issues

To attend EHCP Review meetings when required.

Assist in the planning of appropriate programmes of work for a named child according to their age, aptitude and ability, in consultation with the Class Teacher or Year Group Leader and in accordance with the School’s curriculum policy.

Contribute to ensuring that the learning environment for the named child is learning attractive, stimulating and well organised.

Maintain in good order all resources related to or used by the named child and ensure that he/she is trained in their use and care.

Assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of the child in accordance with the school’s curriculum policy.

Attend and contribute fully to staff and parents’ meetings where reasonable given the nature of the role both in normal school hours and exceptionally out of school hours including INSET when appropriate.

Carry out supervisory duties at lunch and playtimes, in relation to the needs of the named child.

Actively promote good home/school relationships.

To contribute to policy development of the school (where appropriate) and promote and implement all policies effectively.

To maintain in good order the class room and beyond.

Any other reasonable duties as requested.

The applicant must be at least educated to GCSE standard with a C or above in English and Maths. Experience working with a child previously with SEND needs and knowledge of Team Teach would be an advantage.

The role will be subject to an enhanced DBS check
