We are currently recruiting for an experienced and credible school improvement professional to join our strong and talented team. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who wants to make a difference to the lives of children and young people. Head of School

This position requires a committed professional with a strong track record of improving outcomes for children with SEN.

The key purposes of the role will be

  • To enable the Local Authority to discharge its duties and responsibilities, particularly those relating to improving achievement and standards for children with SEN and disabilities. 
  • To provide strategic SEN leadership across Devon schools by providing advice and consultancy in order to improve outcomes for children with SEN.

We are looking for a candidate who is:

  • An inspirational leader with a strong sense of purpose who is passionate about making a difference to the lives of children with SEN and has a strong track record of improving outcomes for these children
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to provide SEN leadership to SENCOs, teachers and other school staff, and advise schools on SEN issues
  • Well informed about  the statutory legislation relating to SEN and the support services
  • Able to analyse and use data, including the assessments used  to record and measure pupil outcomes
  • Able to target support where most needed and provide practical support for teachers and leaders on strategies to improve outcomes for pupils with SEN
