We are proud of our college, our talented and highly motivated staff and students.  Our staff team work tirelessly to ensure that teaching is the best it can be and everyone has a role to play in this.  We support each other and there is an open, friendly and collegiate atmosphere where new members of the team are welcomed and supported.

We are:

Understandably the applicant pack and our website only gives a flavour of the college.  We therefore encourage visits for prospective candidates to see us in action.  We do understand however that visits are not always possible or practical and you would not be at a disadvantage if you are unable to visit the college.

The key task of the SENCO is to ensure that Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision is both efficiently and effectively managed. The range of responsibilities delegated to the SENCO with regard to provision and coordination is outlined in the job description in the applicant pack.  It is expected that all legal and statutory requirements are met for students with SEN via the SENCO.

The core purpose of the post is that the SENCO, with the support of the Headteacher and Governing Body, takes responsibility for the day-to-day operation of provision made by the school for students with SEN and provides professional guidance in the area of SEN in order to secure high quality teaching and the effective use of resources to bring about improved standards of achievement of all students.

The SENCO has a dedicated suite of rooms which are situated above our conference suite.  The current SEN team comprises the SENCO, four HLTA's, one of whom specialises in English support, one who specialises in Mathematics support and one who specialises in Speech and Language Therapy.  Two individual needs assistants who are assigned to a studentl in year 8 and a student in year 10; one subject specialist teaching assistant and two apprentice teaching assistants.

Great students - you can make a massive difference to them

Completed application forms and letters of application should be sent directly to the college addressed to Mrs S Windsor, Head of Personnel:  SWindsor@stcatherines.college, and arrive by no later than noon on Monday 14 October 2019.

We are St Catherine's College. We are a Church of England Academy that has children at the heart of everything we do.

Our smart, well behaved pupils are happy and proud of their school. We are a high achieving school with children who are well prepared for their next steps in life.

We are fixed upon progress for all. Pupils benefit from smaller classes in English and Maths, as well as additional support when they need an extra boost to accelerate their progress. We are blessed with excellent teachers who are happy and stay here. The teachers, the tutors and our expansive pastoral team work with each child to help find their 'missing piece' so that they can reach their God-given potential.

We are different, and what sets us apart is that we are the only Church of England Secondary School / Academy in East Sussex. Parents send their children here because we insist upon high standards and firm boundaries, all underpinned by our Christian foundation.

We are a college that teaches and explores the value of resilience. This resilience is in part why our students are more likely to stay on and succeed in further education than their peers nationally.

We are creative and maintain a broad and varied curriculum with Art, Dance, Drama, Music, Food Technology and Motor Vehicle all featuring in our curriculum as we recognise the value of developing the whole child experience. Beyond a rich mix of Sport, Drama, Dance and Music, we also offer chess, gaming, our Mandarin Academy, host the Pauline Quirk Academy and offer so much more...

We are St Catherine's and it is our mission that every child achieves his/her God-given potential. We aim for every student to rise to challenges, to enjoy learning and to feel a sense of belonging.
