We are looking for a passionate and caring Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (part-time, 3 days a week minimum) to continue to develop the SEND practice and provision we have carefully built to nurture our support all of our children.

You will work with our Inclusion Lead and school leadership team to continue to shape our SEND practice and provide a high quality service to our school community. You will join our pastoral team, which includes an ELSA, SEND support assistants and a mental health worker, who all work together, within the wider team, to make a positive difference to the lives of our children and families.

What are we looking for in a SENCO?

  • A dedicated and passionate practitioner who has a proven track record of effective classroom practice and can lead by example
  • Someone truly committed to inclusion who wants to make a positive impact, improving outcomes for our children and families
  • Someone who is nurturing and caring and who will get to know our children
  • Someone who will be accountable for the wellbeing and progress of some of our most vulnerable learners; enabling the school day to be manageable and classroom time to be productive
  • Someone who understands the importance of working with staff, governors, parents and professionals to secure the very best outcomes for children
  • A team player; someone who is personable – one of our key successes as a school is how we work together as a team and build relationships. This provides our staff foundation
  • A reflective professional who strives to improve as well as develop others

What does the role entail?

  • Undertaking the full range of SENCO duties
  • Managing the paperwork related to SEND!
  • Being non-class based but supporting and prioritising teaching and learning in classes
  • Supporting staff to put in place high quality provision and appropriate adaptations for children with additional educational needs
  • Developing others in their practice and leading staff CPD
  • Working effectively with a wide range of professionals
  • Working closely with children with additional needs and their families

Why Cuffley School?

  • A school, where you will be encouraged, supported and developed with appropriate ongoing training and development
  • A truly dedicated team of staff who will go above and beyond for each other and the children
  • A school, which is truly child-centred - this is an integral part of how we work
  • A school, where staff are given the opportunity to grow and progress
  • A 2-form entry school where teamwork is embedded through every day practice

What next?

  • If you are interested in this post and think you might like to be a part of our school, please contact Wendy Wing (Headteacher) for an informal discussion and to arrange a visit. This is warmly welcomed and encouraged; it is equally important for a candidate to feel the school is right for them as well as vice versa
  • Look through the documentation attached, if there are any questions, please contact the school
  • Complete the online application form

We look forward to hearing from you! Cuffley School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
