Do you want to join a school with a strong inclusive ethos that seeks to ensure all students have access to the very best education possible?
Westfield School is an 11-16 comprehensive secondary school with close to 1200 students on roll. We enjoy excellent modern facilities located in the south-eastern suburbs of Sheffield very close to the motorway network. The school is on the cusp of achieving great things and came under the leadership of Chorus Education Trust in spring 2017, and officially joined the Trust at the end of 2018. Chorus is an inclusive and aspirational local Trust that is drawing on the very best teaching and learning across South Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
This is a school where, if you have the drive, talent and commitment, you can make great progress. It is a happy school with supportive and willing staff, students and parents.
You'll never want to leave
As part of Chorus Education Trust, you will be supported through every step of your career. Our well-established Teaching School, the Sheffield Teaching School Alliance, provides outstanding support and training, and has a strong track record of developing teachers at all levels. As part of the Trust you will be able to take advantage of opportunities working with colleagues at other schools, as well as contribute to our ever-improving practice. When you are ready to take the next step in your career we are sure you will want to stay with us. With many local schools lined up to join Chorus, you will find that you can develop your career within our supportive team.
We are looking for a multi-skilled, energetic individual with excellent leadership and communication skills who will drive our inclusive culture. A background of working with SEN students is essential, and, if you are not already a qualified SENCO, a willingness to complete the training. Colleagues with a primary background are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities will encompass all aspects of our SEND provision throughout the school, managing the work of a dedicated and committed Learning Support team, whilst also building and maintaining effective working relationships with our students and their families, all support and teaching staff, and external agencies. The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations; their teaching commitment will be determined by their specialism with regard to subject and phase. They will lead relevant inset to develop materials and strategies for effective differentiated provision throughout the curriculum. They will share our commitment to ensuring all Westfield teachers are skilled in supporting Outstanding Achievement for children with SEND through quality first teaching.
