Following the OFSTED inspection in March 2016 Southey Green is proud to say that it is a ‘GOOD’ school. The school is at the heart of its community and in January 2013 became a member of Tapton School Academy Trust. Tapton is an ‘Outstanding’ secondary school in Sheffield and the Academy Trust is rapidly establishing itself within the city. Membership of the Academy Trust provides a range of opportunities for partnership working and continuing professional development with an outstanding secondary school and a network of primary schools within the locality. We are all working together to establish really effective practice for the benefit of every child. We are looking for an inspirational SENCO to join the highly commited and experienced Inclusion Team at Southey. This role will be pivotal in supporting the Teaching and Learning and Special Educational Needs across the school from the 2 year old Nursery to Year 6. There is a teaching commitment to this role. You will need to: • Be a qualified teacher with 3 years or more teaching experience • Have the National Award for SEN Co-ordination or be working towards • Have experience of working with children with Special Needs • Have thorough knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice • Have the ability to lead staff in developing their knowledge and expertise in working with SEN children • Be skilful in working with pupils with a range of different abilities and needs – SEND, LAC, Pupil Premium, EAL, G & T • Have the necessary communication skills enabling liaison with a variety of external agencies and parents • Have good communication skills and an ability to work within a team We can offer you: • Staff with a vision of excellence for the future • Children who love learning and want to achieve • A well-resourced and stimulating environment • A strong emphasis on teamwork • High quality CPD opportunities Visits to the school are warmly welcomed.
