SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator)

(FULL TIME, PERMANENT)

SALARY: MPR / UPR (MAIN PAY RANGE / UPPER PAY RANGE, including Outer London Allowance) + TLR 1c

Blackfen School is a progressive and vibrant learning community that focuses on raising the aspirations and releasing the potential of every young person in our care. In 2023, 72% of students in year 11 achieved five or more GCSE 9-4 grades, including at least a 4 in English and a 4 in Mathematics. Progress was also strong. At A level in 2023, 41% of grades were at A*-B. Similarly, high levels were achieved in Level 3 BTEC qualifications.

Our flourishing Sixth Form offers a wide range of courses at A level, as well as vocational level 2 and 3 courses.

Our Governors want to appoint well qualified, experienced, motivated and innovative individual who is committed to raising achievement. As our SENCO, you will be an enthusiastic, inspirational teacher and have proven leadership and communication skills. Key responsibilities will include:

• Liaising with, advising and supporting all staff and managing learning support assistants on all matters relating to SEN and EAL;

• Liaising with parents, other agencies and partners;

• Reviewing, revising and overseeing the day-to-day operation of the school’s Inclusion policies.

·       You will need to be a teacher with QTS.

·       SENCO with the NASENCO (National Award for SEN Co-ordination), or Willingness to complete it within 3 years of appointment.

·       Aspiring SENCO’s must be willing to take the NPQ if they have not completed or started the NASENCO.

·       Previous experience as a SENCO in either a primary or secondary school would be advantageous.
