About us

The Gulf English School is a private, fee-paying school accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO). Founded in 1993, the school provides a caring educational environment for both Qatari and expatriate children, in small classes. The international staff ensure that all pupils, from Pre-School to IB-2, benefit from the curriculum which is based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales and the International Baccalaureate.

Candidate profile

Successful applicants must:

  • Be NASENCO qualified or preparing to work towards it.
  • Have previous experience or have an understanding of curriculum across the primary and secondary sector.
  • Have excellent communication skills, with proven experience liaising with with parents, carers and external agencies.
  • Be enthusiastic and committed to working as part of a team.
  • Be passionate about the students’ learning and welfare.
  • Strong leadership and good organisational skills and who can take responsibility for Learning Support Teachers and designated Learning Support Assistants, and who can effectively liaise with relevant staff, external agencies and parents.

The Gulf English School opened in 1993 to meet the need for an educational facility which would provide a broad and balanced curriculum based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales (modified) and International Baccalaureate Diploma and also offer an Arabic Language and Islamic Studies programme as authorized by the Supreme Education Council.  The School is an approved examination center for CIE, AQA and Edexcel, accredited to offer BTEC courses, a member of the BSME and fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the first private school in Qatar to receive the Award of Excellence from the Supreme Education Council and is IB World School accredited.

GES only employs fully qualified teachers of the highest calibre from across the world and has specialist teachers in subjects including Arabic, Islamic, Art, Music and PE. All teachers are fluent and competent English speakers who are experts in their particular field of knowledge and skills. Teachers bring a wide breadth of experience and pedagogical practice and many hold masters degrees or equivalent.
