Job overview

This post involves supporting a child in Year 5 with SEND on a 1:1 basis.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed practitioner who has experience of working with SEND children, is full of energy and has some understanding of the KS2 curriculum.

The pupil has social, emotional and mental health difficulties and so some experience supporting a child with these needs would be advantageous. The successful candidate will be committed to providing the highest quality of education and support for the pupil in their care, and be able to work well as part of a team alongside the class teacher, parents and other outside agencies.

This position requires a qualification to level 3 (or a commitment towards gaining this qualification) in a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification.

The above position is a temporary post which is attached to the child’s EHC Funding and will remain in place as long as the school receives funding or until the pupil’s departure from the Trust if earlier. It will be reviewed before the end of the academic year.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  we follow the safer recruitment practices and appointmnets are subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Please read carefully through all of the documents attached to this advert before applying.

Closing date for applications is Friday 27th September 2019.

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 15th October 2019

Peasedown St John Primary School was built in 1913.  It is a large, lively, vibrant school for approximately 600 children aged 2 - 11 years. Our aim is "achieving excellence for ourselves and others" and this vision permeates all that we do.

Children who come to our school receive good teaching and make good progress, but there is much more to it.  We provide a wide range of opportunities for children to develop their musical, sporting and language abilities, as well as many other irresistible learning experiences - all designed to make children enjoy their primary school years in an atmosphere where every child can flourish.

During their time with us children are nurtured as individuals.  We work hard to develop in them lifelong learning skills and behaviours, as well as self-respect and respect for others. The best way to judge our success in achieving this is by visiting the school and meeting the children.

The school is part of the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership trust, which we joined in April 2019. This is a large local trust, bringing together a diversity of primary, secondary and special schools to work in the best interests of all the children in our area.
