Job overview

Derby Cathedral School is looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and inspiring SENDCo at this new Church of England Secondary School in the centre of the city. The school has two specialist subjects namely Maths and Music.

Due to open in September 2018 with 180 students in Year 7, the school is scheduled for annual growth of the same number up to a maximum of 1200 students, including 300 in the Sixth Form. Initially located in city centre temporary buildings, the school moves to a state of the art, purpose built site in 2020.

This position will see the successful candidate join the Extended Senior Leadership Team in leading the school through rapid expansion in both student numbers and staffing. The post holder will have a negotiated, flexible, reduced teaching commitment, in addition to the traditional responsibilities associated with a SENDCo in a secondary school. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a colleague to make a real impact on the establishment of an outstanding new education facility within Derby.

Derby Cathedral School is part of the wider family of schools within the Diocese of Derby and Derby Diocesan Academy Trust (DDAT) and is also affiliated to a local teaching school alliance all of which offer valuable CPD opportunities.

This appointment is subject to teachers’ national terms of pay and conditions (STPCD).

The appointment will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS clearance.
