SENDCO Required: Immediate Start

HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL PRIMARY AND NURSERY SCHOOL - COEDUCATIONAL - FRIENDLY AND VIBRANT SCHOOL -  FAMILY ATMOSPHERE - ATTRACTIVE SALARY AND BENEFITS

Broadoaks British School and the Teenee Todds Day Nursery are well established centres of primary and early years education in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city. There are currently around 100 students on roll at Broadoaks British School and 154 on roll at the Teenee Todds Day Nursery.

Located in the pleasant and fashionable district of Maitama the school occupies a serene campus location with excellent facilities to provide a first class learning experience for its students.

The curriculum on offer is the EYFS and National Curriculum for England and Wales and the school enjoys an excellent reputation for high academic standards and co-curricular provision.

The school is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and experienced SENDCO for an immediate start or as soon as would be feasible.

The successful candidate will be well versed in all areas of SEND provision, ideally in an international setting. Particular emphasis will be placed on speech and language development in the EYFS area of the school, but the person appointed will be responsible for provision in all key stages and will therefore have experience of catering for the widest possible range of needs. The latter include working in the area of ASD using PECS methodology. The core values attached to this post are integrity, empathy and a desire to achieve the very best outcomes for all learners.

A generous salary package is available to the successful candidate as well as pleasant and comfortable accommodation, return flights, a car and driver and health insurance cover.

Abuja is a well-planned, pleasant city in which to live and work with an international airport and good links to other parts of Nigeria and beyond.

Interested applicants are asked to apply by submitting their most recent CV as well as a letter of no more than two sides of A4 outlining their suitability for the post and motivation in making the application. The CV must include names and full contact details of three professional referees, one of whom must be the candidate’s most recent supervisor/ line manager. Referees will not be contacted without prior permission.

Informal discussions about the school, the role and life in Nigeria prior to formal application are most welcome.

In addition to interaction with candidates’ professional referees a variety of background checks will be required prior to final appointment.
