What are we looking for? 

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Senior Information Analyst to contribute to the production of accurate, timely and accessible data reports for college staff, students, agencies and governors. There is a strong ambition to transform the production and delivery of timely information to our stakeholders using business intelligence tools such as Power BI that are set against kite-marked datasets. The role will build good client relationships and offer services to stakeholders and customers that enables proactive business decision making, along with an information- led approach to improving the core activities of the college. You will support the BIS Manager with the day-to-day co-ordination of the reporting team outputs.

What to expect? 

Under the leadership of the Business Intelligence Systems Manager:

  • To support the BIS Manager deliver a new BI Strategy that enables a timely, robust and responsive business intelligence and reporting service to our stakeholders
  • To assist the BIS Manager by coordinating the day-to-day operations of the BI reporting team 
  • To use SQL/SSRS, Power BI and other relevant software to develop and produce dynamic reports from a range of MIS data sources ensuring that information produced is accurate, timely and is available on demand
  • To develop, monitor and maintain the accurate production of college management reports and roles-based top down/ bottom up KPI data dashboards 
  • To support the BIS Manager and to work with the Senior Systems Developer to establish a new data warehouse that provides ‘kite-marked’ data marts that powers business intelligence reporting and facilitates self-server for power users, e.g. the MIS Manager and Finance Director to build their own reports in tools such as Power BI
  • To be proactive is understanding customer requirements in order to deliver effective reports that are right first time (business analysis)
  • To gain a sound understanding of the college business systems, architecture and processes in order to extract information that meets business requirements
  • To contribute to the development design of information requirements of the college student mobile App and ‘Ontrack’ Staff Hub and Student self-service portal
  • To support the production and maintenance of the Reporting Team procedures manuals and data dictionaries
  • To train staff and stakeholders in the use and interpretation of reports available from the management information systems applications and reporting tools
  • To develop and maintain relevant documentation that supports data transparency and ensures that the college’s data can be fully understood and interpreted by any user, i.e. it will explain how your data was created, it’s context and its contents, and any manipulations that have been done to the data
