Job overview

The IAT is seeking for Senior Manager Curriculum Development Unit (Schools) who will be responsible for the overall development and implementation of the Curriculum for ATHS. He/she will be responsible for alignment of the Curriculum within acceptable standards for each subject area and to ensure that the curriculum is appropriate for preparing students for successfully completing advanced placement courses. The Senior Manager works closely with the Curriculum specialists, Lead Teachers and Head Librarian to ensure curricular materials are aligned. This person is responsible for planning, coordinating and providing staff development to ensure faculty and staff remain current in curricular and pedagogical changes. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Curriculum Development

• Oversee curriculum alignment to standards, correcting overlaps and omissions, and ensuring appropriate horizontal and vertical articulation

• Oversee the curriculum review cycle 

• Oversee the development and maintenance of a uniform curriculum format

• Oversea the maintenance of curriculum binders

• Assist Lead Teachers in annual curriculum review and update 

• Undertake five-year curriculum review for each discipline involving literature review, program assessment, data analysis, materials review, and developing the proposal

• Bring curriculum review proposals to the administration and board approval process and oversea their implementation

• Assist Lead teachers in identifying and addressing annual goals

• Oversee development and implementation of policies related to curriculum

• Meet with individual teachers to discuss curriculum related issues and progress

• Network with curriculum specialists 

• Submits a monthly update to the Director of ATHS

• Works with the technology team to facilitate the integration of technology into the curriculum.

Assessment 

• Assist teachers in matching appropriate assessment instruments to curriculum objectives 

• Assist teachers in developing student exemplars and establishing clearly articulated assessment standards 

• Assure uniformity in assessment and reporting standards 

• Coordinate a programme of standardized testing for all Grades 

• Provide leadership and direction in the use of assessment data for the improvement of student learning 

• Analyze data from standardized tests to improve teaching and student learning 

• Monitor and review homework 

• Make recommendations to Admin Committee on assessment related issues 

• Oversee development and implementation of policies related to assessment 

• Develop and update handbooks of assessment, evaluation and reporting strategies and policies 

Curriculum Resources

• Maintain detailed and accurate inventories of curriculum resources (tests, supplies and equipment)

• Assist Curriculum Specialists and teachers in the selection and purchase of curriculum resources

• Maintain comprehensive and systematic collection of catalogues to assist the resource selections

• Develop and oversea the purchasing process for curriculum resources

• Develop department budgets and work with principals and department Curriculum Specialists on establishing purchasing priorities

• Work with publishing companies to ensure a broad range of samples for new program adaptations

• Ensure all courses are fully resourced from the start of the school year

• Oversea the work of the purchasing officer in developing purchase orders, soliciting and selecting bids from suppliers, confirming and tracking the status of orders, tracking department budgets

• Oversee development and implementation of policies related to curriculum resources

• Collect and analyse data, prepare scheduled and special reports, maintain program/project records and statistical information

Professional Development

• Plan, organize, coordinate and evaluate program of professional development

• Conduct workshops, conferences and other training sessions

• Conduct professional development needs analyses and plans accordingly

• Consult with department curriculum specialists on department needs

• Oversee faculty records of professional development opportunities

• Network with regional organizations in planning conferences and speakers in support of school initiatives

• Keep abreast of current trends in curriculum, assessment and instruction through participation in workshops, conferences, seminars, and through professional literature.

• Model high standards for professional development

• Oversee development and implementation of policies and procedures related to professional development

• Maintain a professional library

• Maintain memberships of professional organizations for each department and route their publications to the relevant faculty

• Evaluate the feasibility of specific training requests

• Write proposals for new training programmes

• Participate in ongoing professional staff development experiences as a means of enhancing the instructional support provided to teachers

Accreditation:

• Chair the steering committee overseeing all activities related to accreditation

• Develop committees

• Monitor committees, including soliciting and reviewing membership, developing agenda, responding to meeting minutes, writing recognition letters

• Set and maintain timelines for tasks

• Schedule in-service days

• Coordinate development and administration of surveys

• Compile survey reports

• Review, respond to, edit and publishing all reports

• Coordinate collection of supporting evidence

• Schedule team visit

• Report progress to the community including presentations, news articles, and letters

• Produce weekly reports

Job Requirements

• A minimum of Masters degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

• Previous experience in educational administration not less than five years.

• Teaching experience not less than five years.

• Computer knowledge and experience including online/distance education preferred

• Previous participation in accreditation exercises

• Preferably overseas experience in education

Additional Requirements

Subject Specific Technical skills preferred are:

• Knowledge and understanding of current curriculum research and best practices related to healthcare 

• Knowledge and understanding of STEM approach and project based education

• Knowledge of program development, monitoring, and evaluation processes and procedures

• Knowledge and understanding of standards based curriculum

• Knowledge and understanding of research based best practice in education

• Knowledge and understanding of formative, summative and standardized assessment 

• Knowledge and understanding of accreditation process

• Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports

• Knowledge of publishing processes and techniques

• Ability to develop and deliver presentations, conduct workshops, conferences, and other training sessions
