Sacred Heart College is a boys-only, Catholic secondary school with sixth form situated in Glendowie, a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. The English language Independent school educates approximately 1,250 students between the ages of 11-18. Students work to the National Certificates of Educational Achievement (NCEA) and available courses cover the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

Sacred Heart officially opened in June 1903, inspired by the Marist Brothers of the Catholic Church, whose values still inspire the school today. It opened at its current site in June 1995, a time when it was hosting a school roll of 250. An example of recent refurbishment was the 2013 construction of a new school hall.

Principal

Patrick Walsh

Values and Vision

It is a school that is strongly guided by its Christian faith, with weekly mass on Thursday lunchtimes and a reflection of the original Marist values. As Marist educators of the modern day, the school sees it to be its responsibility to ensure that students always fulfil their potential academically, socially and spiritually. There is a sense of community spirit to the school where everyone is always welcome.

ERO

“The school culture, based on Marist virtues and values in action, is strengthened by the presence and involvement of Marist Brothers who live and teach on site. These aspects, along with the boarding facility, promote pride in the school and reinforce the sense of belonging and wellbeing that students, staff and parents have in their Catholic school and community.”
