Senior Science Technician

Hours: 35 per week, term time only split between the 2 sites

Hours per week negotiable for the right candidate

Salary: Grade 5, scale points 12 – 15

Starting salary (term time only) is £22,237pa

Start Date: September 2020 (an earlier start date will also be considered)

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced science technician to support the setting up of the science department at Ada Lovelace Church of England High School, as we move into our new building in Ealing, West London.  Ada Lovelace currently only has students in years 7 and 8 (based at William Perkin School until summer 2020).  During the academic year 2020-2021 hours would be shared between the two schools as Ada Lovelace is growing in numbers.

The main purpose of the role is to lead the development of technical and practical support at Ada Lovelace School and support the Science teaching programme at both Ada Lovelace and William Perkin schools.

We are ideally seeking to appoint a technician for up to 35 hours per week (term time only) however we welcome applicants interested in either full-time or part-time positions as hours and role may be negotiable for the right candidate.

The Twyford Trust

The Twyford Trust was established in October 2011 to enable an existing School, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community.  The Twyford Trust aims to deliver outstanding education in a comprehensive school setting, and embraces the Twyford School motto ‘Life in all its fullness’, encouraging students to use their individual gifts wisely and well.  Supported by the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), the Trust is the overarching organisation which provides support for all Trust schools - the Trust comprises four schools in the London Borough of Ealing.

William Perkin CE High School and Ada Lovelace CE High School

William Perkin Church of England High School opened as a Free School in September 2013 with its first intake of Year 7 students, and now has six year groups (7 - 12) totalling almost 1,000 students in Year 7 – 11 and around 160 students in Year 12.  The school is rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted (June 2015) and SIAMS (October 2016) and is oversubscribed on first choice applicants.  The Twyford Trust’s fourth school – Ada Lovelace CE High School – opened in September 2018 and is temporarily based in additional accommodation at the William Perkin site until its own new building opens in September 2020.  Ada Lovelace currently has 250 student in Years 7 and 8.

About Ada Lovelace Church of England High School

Ada Lovelace Church of England High School is the newest school in the Twyford CE Academies Trust having moved into its brand-new permanent site in north Ealing in September 2020. The school has now reached full capacity, educating just over 1050 students across years 7 to 13. Ada Lovelace is named after the Victorian pioneer of computing and has a specialism in Digital Technologies which has led to the launch of T-levels at the school in Digital Production, Design and Development as well as Laboratory Science. A new T-level in Accounting will be offered from 2025. Being part of the top-performing Multi-Academies Trust in the UK has enabled Ada Lovelace to achieve outstanding GCSE results with a Progress 8 score of +1.33 in 2023 and +1.4 in 2024. Whilst the school has a strong Christian ethos, its admissions policy is open rather than faith-based and the school is heavily oversubscribed.
