Brief Job Description:

Working within the Science team to support staff and students in the delivery of effective practical work through the management, maintenance and administration of materials and resources in accordance with the relevant MAT policies and statutory legislation.

The successful candidate will:

• Preparing resources and assembling apparatus

• Obtaining materials, monitor and maintain necessary stock levels

• Give technical advice to teachers and students

• Carry out risk assessments for technician activities

• Assist in practical classes and carry out demonstrations

• Responsible for the safe treatment and disposal of all materials including hazardous substances and responding to actual or potential hazards

• Responsible for the safe storage and accessibility of equipment and materials within the Science Department

Successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS disclosure. Start dates will be conditional upon receipt of satisfactory pre employment checks.

George Eliot is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school without sixth form situated in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. A smaller than average-sized secondary school, George Eliot will provide 950 places for secondary students aged 11-16, when fully subscribed.

The George Eliot High School opened in September 1961, set up as a new provision for the housing developments being built in the Nuneaton area. The school has expanded in size several times since then to accommodate its growing pupil numbers, most notably in 2002 when two new buildings were opened.
