We are looking for an ambitious, inspirational and dynamic person to lead our Swimming department in the school. You should have the enthusiasm and drive to deliver and achieve outstanding results. Our exceptional onsite facilities include 25m indoor swimming pool. The Senior Swimming Teacher will head up the team of two Swimming teachers, working alongside the Duty Managers and Lifeguards.

We are looking for someone to build and improve on the School’s swimming programme at all ability levels by leading arrangements for the delivery of swimming, including setting up of fixtures, organising teams and managing the programme for intra and inter school competitions. You will ensure the delivery of inspirational swimming coaching/teaching to pupils by the other swimming teachers in line with the scheme of work, or Long Term Athlete Development Model and manage the future development of these staff.

Royal Russell is an HMC/IAPS co-educational school with over 1000 pupils between the ages of 3 and 18, situated on a beautiful green campus of 110 acres in the Shirley Hills near Croydon yet is on the doorstep of London. With your passion, enthusiasm and sheer love of swimming, you're just the person to make sure that our pupils enjoy, develop and maintain a high level of swimming standard. You will work alongside the Commercial Manager, Senior and Junior School Heads of Sports and be part of the operational team within the swimming pool. You will have full responsibility and accountability for organizing the programming of swimming at the school and for the continual improvement of site standards with internal swim instructors. 

You should be a qualified Swimming Teacher with ASA Level 2 Swimming Teacher’s Certificate, ASA level 2 or 3 coaching and, along with FAAW certificate with knowledge of teaching swimming skills, techniques and awards, and ideally, the National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches. Knowledge of health and safety and other relevant legislation will be vital, as will an understanding of Child Protection Policy. You'll need to be approachable, with the friendly, patient nature needed to build people's trust, motivate pupils and encourage with praise.
