32.5 hours Site Manager, 21.25 hours Teaching Assistant.

We are offering this unique position of School Site Manager and Level 2 Teaching Assistant at our wonderful one-form entry school.  We are looking for an organised, flexible, highly-motivated and committed Site Manager/ Teaching Assistant who can support and enhance our learning environment and oversee the day-to-day management of the school site, ensuring a high level of hygiene and safety, whilst also helping our children achieve their full potential when in class.

The successful candidate will be required to: 

  • Unlock the school gates in the morning before school starts and ensure the site is clean and remains secure. 
  • Lock the school gates in the afternoon after school closes and ensure the school is secured after all teachers have left the site.
  • Undertake general caretaking and maintenance duties and reporting items needing repair.
  • Work with the school’s cleaning company to ensure internal and external areas remain clean, tidy and safe.
  • Assist in the decoration of the school. 
  • Support at community events, e.g. school fetes.
  • Maintaining the school's grounds, or supervising external companies carrying out this work.
  • Advise and collaborate with the Executive Headteacher and Head of School to develop and improve internal and external areas of the school site. 
  • Ensure stock levels are maintained on items such as cleaning products.
  • Contacting and communicating with outside contractors for major repair work.
  • Checking that heating, lighting and alarm systems are working properly.
  • Championing health and safety around the school and supervising external contractors.
  • The caretaker may be required to unlock and lock the school on some evenings and weekends to accommodate external lettings, however, this will be paid. 
  • The caretaker will also be required to attend emergency call outs to the school, which may be in unsociable hours, e.g. evenings and weekends.

The successful candidate will: 

  • Have excellent organisational skills
  • Be punctual
  • Communicate well and be confident managing others
  • Have good teamwork skills
  • Respect confidentiality and the potential sensitivities of working in a school, e.g. safeguarding laws
  • Have a good level of DIY skills
  • Be able to demonstrate in their application that they can fulfil the main duties of the job description and person specification as a minimum

Although the candidate does not need to have previous teaching assistant experience, they must have a good level of numeracy and literacy skills and be able to support children in reaching their full potential.
