TEACHER OF Social Science – Part Time 0.6 FTE 

(Maternity from March 2018)  

From March 2018, Royal Wootton Bassett Academy needs an outstanding, motivated and dedicated teacher of Social Science, to join our vibrant and innovative Academy with outstanding results. 

The ideal candidate will have superb subject knowledge in their specialist area and a passion for teaching Psychology, Sociology, Health & Social Care and Child, Learning Play and Development to GCSE and A-Level students. The successful candidate must demonstrate flexibility and would be able to, or be willing to teach these subjects to a very high standard.  We are following the new AQA courses for Psychology and Sociology and the Pearson BTEC courses for Health & Social Care and Child, Learning Play and Development and the outcomes for each of these subject areas are excellent.  The popularity of each of these subjects is exceptionally strong and this demonstrates our drive to provide a variety of highly academic but high quality courses, right the way through the Key Stages and we have a real desire to demonstrate meaningful progress for all students.

Essentially, we are looking for a part time candidate and we are willing to be flexible with the candidate with the right subject skills, commitment and positive mind-set. 

Royal Wootton Bassett Academy is a very successful and very proud 11-18 school with 1,769 students on roll including 324 students in our very popular and successful Sixth Form. Royal Wootton Bassett is geographically situated in a pleasant location with Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham and the Cotswolds all within commuting distance.  

In December 2010, the school was awarded Outstanding in every category by Ofsted.  They described our students as “…an absolute delight.” and “in every area of the School they carry out exemplary practice.”  In November 2013, the Academy was again awarded Outstanding in every category by Ofsted where they stated “Around the school, students are polite and courteous to each other, to members of staff and to visitors.  Students listen attentively in lessons, and almost always respond rapidly to teachers’ instructions”.  As far as we are aware, Royal Wootton Bassett is the only school in the country to be awarded this prestigious accolade in succession.
