Duties

Work in schools as a member of a multi-disciplinary Learning Service Support Team to provide a social work service which supports students and families.  In particular provide support within the assigned network of schools in relation to child well-being and support for children in relation to issues of child protection. Contribute to capacity building of school communities to improve access, participation and achievement of students. 

Provide high level advice to the Department about specific school social work duties and undertake leadership in the form of supervision or leading best practice within the Social Work team or in the school context as required, as directed by the senior and/or Supervisor.

Essential Requirements

A degree in social work from a university, Institute of Technology or College of Advanced Education or an equivalent award from a recognised overseas institution. The Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013 requires persons undertaking work in a regulated activity to be registered. A regulated activity is a child related service or activity defined in the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Regulations 2014. This registration must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of this may be checked at any time during employment. • Current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment) A current driver's licence.

Desirable Requirements

Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
