Our aim is to establish a culture of excellence throughout every element of our academy and move us from Good to Outstanding.

Just 30 minutes by train from Central London, The Highcrest Academy is the first All Ability Academy in in the county of Buckinghamshire. It is culturally diverse and a vibrant school making it a fantastic place to teach. We have some students who will need all your support and yet we also featured in the national Ofsted report (2016) for providing challenge to the most able. Does this enthuse you?

There are approximately 950 students on roll, which includes the Sixth Form. A new building programme, just completed, comprises a brand new Sixth Form Centre, sports facilities including a gym and a new restaurant and coffee shop for both students and staff.

The Humanities department has grown from strength to strength in recent years as we offer more curriculum options. Made up of passionate subject specialists who are friendly and supportive to all within the team. They strive to make lessons enjoyable yet challenging for students to encourage a love of learning and confidence in their understanding. We run a great number of trips to strengthen pupils’ love and understanding of the topics covered, allowing students to experience new opportunities. The department has seen a rapid increase in the number of students choosing Humanities options, both at KS4 and KS5 and joining us at this time could offer some exciting opportunities.

We are seeking to appoint an excellent Sociology teacher who has strong subject knowledge. Committed to raising attainment, you will have the ability to motivate students and help develop engaging and inspiring curriculum in Sociology across all key stages. Our Humanities Department prides itself on its commitment to ensuring pupils achieve their full potential and push themselves beyond their comfort zones. With a good subject knowledge and a love of teaching, we are looking for someone who is able to teach Sociology at both GCSE and A level. This role will also include the teaching of Level 2 & 3 Health and Social Care.

The Humanities department includes subject specialist teachers in RE, History, Geography, Psychology and Sociology. The staff who make up the Humanities department are hard-working, passionate and welcoming. This is an excellent place to develop your teaching and share expertise with other experienced members of staff.

“I’d definitely say our INSET and CPD programme/sessions are far better than anything I’ve seen or heard of from other schools.” ... Head of Art

We also have a thriving House system that brings our whole school community together.

“The growing house system encourages competition between not only students but also staff, which creates a real community feeling, making it an enjoyable place to work.” ... Head of Humanities
