The Widad Center is an alternative educational program nestled in the heart of Dubai tailored to each individual child’s learning abilities and needs. We encourage children to be children by creating a fun and creative learning environment incorporating the use of all senses.
Our work is incorporated into three primary strands: individualised academics, therapeutic intervention, and creative and functional life skills to encourage independence, academic achievement, and social and daily living skill sets.
We apply an evidence based approach, that includes an emphasis on excellent teaching performance, high student attainment with goals that are suitable and relative to the child’s needs and abilities
We strongly believe that all children have the ability to learn. As a result, we believe it is our duty as educators to continually improve the way we teach in order to meet the individual needs of each child and employ this as best practice.
Established in 2013, Widad prides itself in getting children that sadly were unsuccessful in a mainstream setting ready to transition back, or prepare them for their next student journey; smoothly, gradually, and independently.
Widad’s educational approach follows the guidelines of the American Common Core, and best practices from a multitude of diverse approaches, including being able to fit the needs of each child and the presence of therapeutic intervention such as sensory integration and a multidisciplinary approach to give each child real life techniques that they can use independently to regulate themselves.
At our core is the ability to be flexible and find out the unique needs of each student in order to modify the way we teach, with all children receiving a unique assessment to establish their core learning style.
Widad values the importance of literacy and numeracy, as well as overall development. It is focused on developing functional skills as well as pre-academic and academic skills, depending on each child’s needs and abilities. Our educational philosophy also places a large emphasis on social development and in addition to the core subjects, pre-vocational skill building is encouraged.
