Due to continued development and investment in our Additional Learning Support offer, as well as exciting curriculum changes, we are seeking to add to a team of experienced, positive and passionate individuals, who will provide high quality and innovative support to learners with a Special Educational Need or Disability (SEND)

With a good general education to at least level 3 and Maths and English to least at level 2, you will also possess at a minimum, a Level 2 Learning Support qualification, or be willing to achieve one in a timely manner.

Though further training will be given, you will already have the knowledge, experience and understanding of specific issues relevant to learners with SEN needs or learning difficulties/disabilities. The iconic Burnley College campus combines a highly successful Sixth Form Centre, a Skills and Adult Centre and a University of Central Lancashire campus.  The College aims to provide students with high quality learning and resources to help them reach their full potential  and is now amongst the highest performing schools and colleges in the country.

Burnley College was judged Outstanding across all areas by the Government's school and college standards inspectors, Ofsted, in May 2009:

"Achievement and standards are outstanding."
"Innovative strategies promote and enable students' independent learning."
"In their time at College students make exceptional progress."

In addition to the Outstanding Ofsted judgement, Burnley College was named a ‘Beacon Status Institution’ in 2010 by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS). Beacon status identifies and recognises the very best providers of Further Education in the UK. Beacons are a source of expertise and agree to willingly share their expertise and good practice with other organisations.  Nationally of 1800 institutions there are 160 Beacon institutions with only eight Colleges, including Burnley College, being awarded the status this year.

Students at the College are able to study A Level and Advanced Vocational subjects through to full degrees and work based professional development qualifications. They achieve consistently high pass rates and many receive national recognition for their achievements.

Innovative technologies have been incorporated into all classrooms, laboratories and workshops. Classroom layouts have been carefully planned to facilitate the highest standard of teaching. The newly developed large, flexible open plan Science Hub contains high specification laboratory facilities, interactive whiteboards and an extensive range of science books and journals.  Independent study is promoted through Active Learning Zones (ALZs) which combine traditional learning materials such as books and journals with online learning resources. These ALZs have been recognised as best practice by Ofsted.

The campus has superior sports facilities which include a large sports centre, with a climbing wall which meets the criteria for outward bound courses and a state-of-the-art fitness suite. There is also a UEFA standard, full-sized outdoor 3G pitch and a 5-a-side multi-use pitch. There are excellent facilities for performance and exhibitions including a 160 seat Performance Theatre and 110 seat Lecture Theatre.
