Job overview

Do you currently work with special needs children in a care setting? If you are looking to take your career in a new direction, then working with SEND schools could be a perfect role for you.

You will be able to take your knowledge of working with various special needs over the years and apply this within schools to create an encouraging and engaging environment which puts the learning of students at the forefront.

The role of a Learning Support Assistant is vital to the progression of a student’s education, and by providing them the extra support they need you will be able to help them achieve their full potential.

We are looking for those who can remain calm in challenging situations and when dealing with demanding behaviour. You will be empathetic to the individual needs of students and be comfortable dealing with some elements of personal care.

We work with many SEND schools which provide specialist education for a large range of special needs such as: Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Severe Learning Difficulties, Social Emotional and Mental Health. There will also be students with physical disabilities and those who have multiple disabilities and conditions.

Work is on a supply basis covering the needs of schools both daily and long term.

We require a Level 2 TA Qualification as a minimum and will need to have a school based reference within the last 2 years. In addition you will need previous experience of assisting children within an SEN environment.

Those with experience in Makaton, PECS & Team Teach are highly suited to the roles we offer and are all desirable qualifications, as well as knowledge of Personal Care.

Why work for ABC?

Working on a supply basis is an excellent way to get valuable experience in a paid position that can be flexible to your own needs. You will be able to control the days you wish to work and in a variety of schools, learning new skills at each position and developing your working style by seeing how other work in different environments.

You will have a dedicated consultant working for your area with detailed knowledge of local schools and we are the only agency in the area to be partnered with TES.

What to do next:

Candidates will be required to attend a face to face interview to register; we will need to gain two references either academic or professional and hold an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure (or be prepared to allow us to process one for you).

If you register with ABC Teachers, we are so confident about getting you work; we will run you a brand new DBS disclosure and will FULLY REFUND YOU ONCE YOU WORK FOR ONE DAY THROUGH OURSELVES.

If you are interested in this position, please send your CV to  Kelsey Munro: kmunro@abc-teachers.co.uk  Call 01509 608017 or 'Apply now' to submit your details.
