We are delighted to bring to you an exciting and rare opportunity to be part of a new integrated SEND offer that launches this September 2022.

The Specialist Teacher Team is a highly regarded, firmly established and integral part of Hackney Education's new Integrated SEND Service. The team operates within an open, supportive and professional working culture.

You will:

  • be working closely with key partners in Education and Health to ensure the inclusion of learners with SEND.
  • play a key role in the delivery of the new SEND offer which includes providing a comprehensive CPD training programme to all primary and secondary settings and a jointly traded EPS and Specialist Teacher support package.
  • work directly with traded schools to provide specialist teaching, observations, advice and targeted training.
  • have a strong understanding of what's required to build long- lasting and effective inclusive practices in different learning environments.
  • have the ability to work successfully alongside SENCos, class teachers and teaching assistants to support learners who may be in the process of having a need identified or have EHCP.
  • be able to identify, implement and monitor evidence based interventions such as SCERTS, Zones of Regulation and Precision Teaching to maximise progress and well-being for learners.
  • be able to deliver training to a variety of audiences including Hackney professionals, school staff and parents.
  • be part of a supportive, committed and dedicated specialist teacher team that currently holds specialisms in SpLD and Dyslexia, ASD, Developmental Language Delay, Early Years, Assistive Technology, Pupil Voice, Medical Needs and SEMH.

  • dedicated to the principles of inclusion and equality
  • highly motivated and able to work flexibly and independently
  • well organised
  • experienced in implementing evidence based strategies and interventions for children with ASD/Complex Needs
  • able to communicate well with children/young people, parents and a range of education and other professionals
  • an enthusiastic, committed and supportive team member
