Vision for Education are delighted to be working in partnership with a highly reputable and dedicated organisation who have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Teacher to join one of their specialist independent schools on the Wirral.


About the role

To be the specialist teacher on the school site, with particular focus on improving the standards of English, maths and ICT in both staff and students. To contribute to the achievement of excellence in educational standards and lead by example. To promote and safeguard the welfare of students in accordance with the school curriculum and associated standards and criteria.

The core function is to lead on all aspects of English, maths and ICT teaching, learning and assessment. This will include small group and 1:1 work with students who require extra support as well as leading on standard lessons. The post holder will also be responsible for identifying the most appropriate pathways for students in these subjects (Functional Skills/GCSE) 


Key responsibilities

  • Assess and record progress and prepare students for examinations whilst also linking their students' knowledge to earlier learning and develop ways to encourage it further.
  • Challenge and inspire students to help them deepen their knowledge and understanding and identify clear teaching objectives and specifying how they will be taught and assessed.
  • Setting tasks which challenge students and ensure high levels of interest and setting appropriate and demanding expectations.
  • Be aware of and make provision for students who are AEN/SEN, gifted and talented, LAC or who have other particular individual needs.


To be considered for the post of Vocational Teacher, you must have:

  • PGCE or equivalent
  • Level 2 Maths and English, or equivalent
  • A degree or equivalent subject specific qualification, preferably in English, Maths or ICT.
  • Experience of teaching at Key Stage 3 and 4
  • Teaching students who present with challenging behaviours
  • Multi-disciplinary teaching
