Your new school

Gretton School is an independent specialist school for children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions, specifically high functioning autism and Asperger’s Syndrome. We welcome students from 5—19 years old, as weekly boarders or as day students. Based just outside Cambridge, we work with 12 counties to provide a broad and individualised education for these unique and wonderful students.


Your new role

We are looking for an experienced (band 7), well qualified and dynamic Speech and Language Therapist with the ability to support the future development of our provision for children and young people with autistic spectrum conditions (ASC) and those with associated speech language and communication difficulties. Teaching and therapy staff at Gretton School work together using a strong multidisciplinary approach and prioritise the development of the children’s functional communication, social interaction skills and emotional well-being. We are looking for a confident, enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for learning and excellent interpersonal skills that enjoy working as part of a team in our independent school.


This is a full-time (41 hours a week), term time role with an additional working week for planning and report writing to be used at the candidates discretion (40 weeks a year).

Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00, Tuesdays until 17:00.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Well established knowledge about speech, language and communication disorders associated with complex conditions and emotional/behavioural disorders
  • In-depth knowledge of a broad range of therapeutic interventions appropriate to the client group and the ability to compare and contrast relative benefits. This includes SCERTS, TEACCH, Attention Autism, Word Aware, Social StoriesAbility to effectively support and advise colleagues
  • Awareness of child protection issues

Gretton School is a specialist day and residential school for children and young people with autistic spectrum conditions (ASC), specifically high functioning autism and Asperger’s Syndrome.
