About us

Our Academy is situated in the historic fishing town of Looe on Cornwall’s outstanding south eastern coastline, serving the beautiful coastal and rural villages and hamlets.
Assessed by Ofsted in July 2015 as a good school, the Academy is an inclusive secondary community school delivering Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 to 610 students aged 11-16 and of mixed ability.

We are part of the South East Cornwall Multi Academy Regional Trust (SMART), which provides for outstanding local opportunities to access and share expert support, advice, guidance and knowledge with fellow professionals in our partner schools.  The work is primarily at Looe Community Academy, but will extend to our partner schools and other MAT schools to meet prevailing priorities.

About the position

Our ideal candidate will exude emotional intelligence and possess an excellent working knowledge and proven experience of leading on safeguarding and child protection (or protecting other vulnerable groups), working collaboratively in a multi-agency environment and providing support to families.

Main purpose of the job

To co-ordinate all aspects of child protection, safeguarding and student wellbeing in order to remove barriers and develop safe, healthy, happy, confident learners who are ready for and open to learning.

Salary and contract

Grade G (£15,040 to £19,074) working 37 hours per week during term time only.  This appointment is currently linked to specific funding and will initially be on a fixed term basis to 17 July 2020, with the possibility of permanent appointment.
