Description St Paul’s Catholic College is seeking a Full-time Permanent Student Coordinator commencing Term 1, 2021. This position attracts a 2 pts allowance.

St Paul's Catholic College offers an inclusive, welcoming and comfortable environment. The Student Coordinator is a member of the school's leadership team, which comprises the Principal, Assistant Principals and other Coordinators.

As a member of this team, the Coordinator will offer assistance and support in:


• leading Improvement, innovation and change


• promotion of the Catholic ethos of the School


• the implementation of the School's policies and procedures


• the promotion of the hospitality, accessibility and visibility of the executive team


• the promotion of quality teaching and learning in the foundation of excellence in pastoral care
Position Requirements • An understanding of and a clear commitment to the philosophy and objectives of Catholic education and a significant capacity for involvement in the school's Religious Studies programme;


• A thorough knowledge of, a capacity, and a willingness, to initiate, manage and evaluate effective pastoral care programmes;


• A capacity to fulfil the requirements of a middle management position within a secondary school;


• A capacity and willingness to actively supervise and support staff within their area of pastoral care and student engagement;


• A capacity for, and ability to demonstrate, effective liaison and communication skills;


• A high level of proficiency as a classroom teacher and the understanding of contemporary pedagogy;


• An understanding of relevant procedures pertaining to Child Protection legislation;


• High levels of competency in record keeping and organisational skills;


• Proficiency in the use of technology as an organisational tool;


• A capacity to support staff in relation to the management of students in the classroom where issues arise across a range of subject areas, including wellbeing and engagement in learning.

•Current NESA Accreditation and Paid Working With Children Check (WWCC);

• Qualifications as a four year trained teacher;

• Completion of Anaphylaxis training;

• Willingness to Comply or Compliance with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead 2018 and willingness to work towards the Current Accreditation at Category C – Accreditation for Leadership.

Conditions of EmploymentSalary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2017. This position attracts a 2 Point Coordinator Allowance of $15,982 annually plus base salary.

St Paul’s High School is a co-educational, non-selective, Roman Catholic, independent day school serving students from Years 7 to 12. The secondary school is located in Booragul, Lake Macquarie, New South Wales, and has approximately 950 pupils on its roll.

Established by the Catholic Church Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle in 1984, the school was upgraded over the past decade with new buildings. Students are mainly taken from six nearby Catholic primary schools as well as from local government schools.

St Paul’s High School has four seminar rooms, a computer room, a science laboratory, multi-purpose hall, two music rooms and IT facilities in every classroom. The school recently built a commercial-quality kitchen and workshops for construction classes. In 2015 it opened a new library and technology hub, along with seven new classrooms. 

Curriculum

The school teaches pupils in all secondary years but has a particular focus on the final two senior years. It has a gifted and talented coordinator who promotes activities including mock trials, public speaking, engineering challenges and competitions in writing, maths and science. Students are offered language classes and cultural experiences in Japanese and French. The school hosts two visual art shows each year as well as concert band performances and music and drama nights. Students are offered a range of sporting activities including surfing and walking on top of more traditional sports.

St Paul's High School aims to provide a welcoming environment where students can develop their skills to the best of their abilities. The Catholic school places an emphasis on pastoral care of students as well as academic results. “Our mission is to strive to acknowledge the self worth and dignity of all of our community members - students, staff, parents, clergy and the wider community,” the principal says.
