Description St Bede’s High School, Chisholm is seeking a Full-time Permanent Student Coordinator commencing in 2021. This position attracts a 2 points allowance (paid & time) in addition to the base salary.



St Bede’s Catholic College, in the recently established suburb of Chisholm, is a new co-educational Catholic secondary school that is part of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. The College opened in 2018 and will eventually cater for 1,100 students in Years 7 to 12. In 2021 the College will have approximately 540 Year 7-10 students, with the first Year 12 cohort to graduate in 2023.



The Student Coordinator is a member of the College’s Learning/Wellbeing Team, which comprises the Principal, Assistant Principals, and other Coordinators.



As a member of this team, the Student Coordinator will assist and support in:


• Leading improvement, innovation and change in wellbeing and learning.


• The promotion of the Catholic ethos of the College.


• The implementation of relevant policies and procedures.


• The promotion of quality teaching and learning in the foundation of excellence in pastoral care.
Position Requirements • An understanding of and a clear commitment to the philosophy and objectives of Catholic education and a significant capacity for involvement in the school's Religious Studies program;


• A thorough knowledge of, a capacity, and a willingness, to initiate, manage and evaluate effective pastoral care programs;


• A capacity to fulfil the requirements of a middle management position within a secondary school;


• A capacity and willingness to actively lead, manage and support staff and teachers within their area of pastoral care.


• A capacity and willingness to know all students in their year group and respond to their learning and wellbeing needs in collaboration with all stakeholders


• A capacity for, and ability to demonstrate, effective liaison and communication skills;


• A high level of proficiency as a classroom teacher and the understanding of contemporary pedagogy;


• An understanding of relevant procedures pertaining to Child Protection legislation;


• High levels of competency in record keeping and organisational skills;


• Proficiency in the use of technology as an organisational tool;


• High level of communication and interpersonal skills to develop positive relationships with students, school staff and the wider community.
Essential Criteria • The applicant for Student Coordinator will be a practising Catholic with a capacity for significant leadership in the religious dimension of the College community and must provide a current Parish Priest Reference and contact details.

• Current NESA Accreditation and Paid Working With Children Check (WWCC);

• Qualifications as a four year trained teacher;

• Completion of Anaphylaxis training;

• Willingness to Comply or Compliance with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead 2018 and willingness to work towards the Current Accreditation at Category C – Accreditation for Leadership.

Conditions of EmploymentSalary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2017. This position attracts a 2 Point Coordinator Allowance of $15,982 annually plus base salary.
