Job overview
We are seeking to appoint a determined, energetic and committed Mathematics specialist to join our talented maths team with big ambitions.
You will work with colleagues in the STEM team, pushing forward numeracy and the language of Mathematics across the whole Academy including our thriving 6th Form. The post is part of our highly successful middle leadership group and would be excellent preparation for an assistant headteacher role in the future. There are also fantastic opportunities for further professional development offered by the Academy supported by our innovative and unique CPD programme. The department is led by an experienced Director and the maths team are a dynamic force.
The twin specialisms of English and Engineering & Design mean that we place literacy and numeracy at the heart of all we do.
Our recent Ofsted Inspection (Feb 2018) Stated that the ‘senior team has fostered the development of leadership in others’. They ‘encourage staff to take responsibility and exercise initiative’. The ‘personable and positive approach has helped to unite staff behind a common purpose. The overwhelming majority of staff who responded to the survey issued during the inspection feel proud to work at the school. They agree that leaders do all they can to ensure that the school has a motivated, respected and effective teaching staff’.
The Academy has an excellent reputation within the local community with strong support from Governors, Parents, Students and a dedicated and highly motivated team of staff.

About The Bourne Academy
The Bourne Academy
The Bourne Academy is at the heart of the community of East Howe, offering local families an excellent education, new opportunities and facilities that are available to everyone. It aims to raise students’ expectations, build their self-confidence, and teach them appropriate skills that allow them to build a successful career and contribute to society. Our sponsors are Canford School, a leading independent school.
Canford believes that good education depends crucially on the relationships that are built up between staff, students, parents and the other stakeholders. Mutual support, pride, ambition, trust and high expectations all combine to allow impressive educational achievements against a background of respect for each other and an acknowledgement of each other’s contributions.
Key to building these relationships is the pastoral care at the Academy and the links between the Academy, parents and others in the local community, helped by the academy’s central location in East Howe.
