Job overview

Teddington School is a very successful, heavily oversubscribed community comprehensive school, located in pleasant surroundings in Teddington, on the banks of the River Thames. This is an exciting time in the school’s development as we lead and become part of our Multi Academy Trust. We are looking for colleagues to join us who have a passionate commitment to an inclusive education that meets the needs of all students.  Under the leadership of our Executive Headteacher, John Wilkinson, we have a clear moral purpose to provide a high quality learning experience for the students and families of our local community. We moved into our state of the art building in 2010 and opened our new Sixth Form in September 2014 in its own new building in front of the school. Our good fortune, in terms of resources and location, ensures that we use the facilities to maximise the outcomes and experience for all learners and staff colleagues.

We are seeking a candidate who:

· aspires to be an innovative, outstanding practitioner

· would embrace the range of opportunities to participate in high quality staff development opportunities with a clear sense of purpose

· has the commitment to embrace our continued efforts to improve the school for the benefit of students, families and staff

· is keen to participate in aspects of wider school life

· is keen to teach all key stages, including key stage 5

‘The school’s senior leaders and governors are totally committed to improving the school. Their passion and determination have brought about significant improvements in teaching, achievement, attendance and behaviour.’

Our priority is to ensure that the educational experience every child receives in our school is first class. We firmly believe that every child is entitled to an ‘excellent education’, which offers breadth of curriculum, academic rigour and opportunity regardless of background. A student’s education at our school enables them to leave as ‘healthy learners’, well rounded ‘global citizens’ who are ‘future ready’ and equipped with the skills to succeed in whichever pathway they choose. It is our responsibility to provide them with as many opportunities to learn and grow along the way.

The Teddington Pillars underpin everything that we do at our school and encapsulate the rounded experience we offer to all students.

  • Excellent Education
  • Global Citizens
  • Future Ready
  • Healthy Learners

Our Strategic Vision

We have agreed on four clear strategic goals:

  • Be the ‘go to’ school for the community
  • Be an inclusive place for all
  • Be leaders in the enhanced education experience
  • Be outward facing and highly collaborative

Our Values

  • Inclusion - We are a welcoming community in which all can flourish. We are proud of our differences and strengthened by our common goals.
  • Opportunity - We offer all students the curricular and extra curricular experiences necessary to nurture their talents and take their next steps in further education and careers.
  • Excellence - We are constantly striving towards this target to ensure that all students make progress and achieve their full potential.

Staff at Teddington ensure that students feel safe, confident and academically challenged every day. We have created a supportive and vibrant environment through which we nurture confident, ambitious students who embrace community, tolerance and have high aspirations.

We are committed to excellence and pride ourselves on the fundamental principle that teachers have the right to teach, and students have the right to learn. In upholding this principle, we ensure that we get the best out of every student whatever their talent may be.We are committed to identifying, developing and retaining talent amongst our staff with a bespoke CPD package in place for all of our team.

Our school is located on a modern and attractive campus that overlooks the River Thames. Inside our school, you will find a professional working environment with a calm and caring atmosphere based on mutual respect between all stakeholders. We pride ourselves on the fundamental principle that teachers have the right to teach, and students have the right to learn.

We are proud to be part of The Bourne Education Trust (BET) - a successful multi-academy, made up of nineteen schools (plus a further three associate schools), across primary, secondary and special education. BET continues to grow a community of like-minded academies with the highest aspiration and dedication to achieving the best outcomes for their learners. They understand that people are the key to success and for this reason, believe in creating great places to work where people feel supported and encouraged to be the best they can possibly be.
