The high expectations we place on our students and staff, supported by one of the best learning environments in the county, has had a significant impact in terms of improving results. As we continue our journey to becoming an ‘Outstanding’ school, we will accept nothing but the very best from the Central Academy community and make no apologies for the demands we place on our students in terms of behaviour and commitment. Our nurturing and supportive culture ensures the best possible outcomes for all students at all levels. At Central Academy we challenge everyone, every day, to be the best they can be in everything they do.

It is an exciting time to be a member of staff at Central Academy. If you would like to come and visit the school, please get in touch.

We are seeking to recruit a professional and talented Subject Leader for ICT, Computer Science and Business on a permanent basis.

We want you to be part of our professional, supportive and friendly team.  Our recent ‘Good’ Ofsted inspection shows that we are an ambitious and rapidly improving Academy.  It also gives us some further insight into how we can continue to work towards our ambition of becoming an Outstanding school. The full report can be found on our website.

Results in recent years have placed us in the top 10 for progress in the county at KS4 with progress at KS5 placing us top in the county and amongst the top 4% nationally.

We are an inclusive employer and are happy to consider flexible working practices, part time or a job share if they will benefit you and the students of the Academy.

Central Academy is part of the United Learning Group and is situated in the city centre of Carlisle, close to the Scottish Borders and the Lake District and we benefit from a £30m new build.

Are you ambitious for all our young people and their life chances?  Would you like to benefit from superb professional development opportunities and to work in one of the best equipped schools in the county? If so, then we would be very interested in hearing from you.

Being part of United Learning, one of the leading school groups in the country, we offer unrivalled career development opportunities and support to ensure you achieve your ambitions.  United Learning has teamed up with Perkbox to offer you over 250 exclusive benefits, all through their easy-to-access platform and mobile app.  Featuring a huge range of perks from discounted cinema tickets and holidays, to money off meals out at restaurants and savings on food, gym memberships, technology and clothes shopping.  They also offer salary sacrifice schemes such as Childcare Vouchers and Cycle to Work – which offer tax and NI savings on new bikes and nursery care.

United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.  This post will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.

United Learning

Richard Rose Central is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
