Job overview

Due to the promotion of the current post holder, we are looking for a colleague with vision, determination and enthusiasm to lead Modern Foreign Languages at Fearnhill School. The department is very successful and languages are increasingly popular at GCSE and A Level. You must have a passion to see every student achieve to the best of their ability and be resolute in challenging barriers to their success. You will receive high quality CPD through our partnership with the NHTA.

You will be:

  • An experienced teacher of Spanish to GCSE and A Level
  • An excellent classroom practitioner with an understanding of how children learn
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal skills


You will have:

  • A clear vision for the role of modern languages in the curriculum
  • Ambition to progress to a wider school leadership role


You will be responsible for:

  • Achievement and progress of students in the Modern Foreign Languages department
  • Leading your fellow colleague and language assistant as appropriate
  • Working within the Language faculty and contributing to extracurricular enrichment

Fearnhill School is a mixed, comprehensive secondary school with sixth form in Hertfordshire serving students from the age of 11-18. The secondary school, situated in Letchworth Garden City has approximately 520 students on roll.

Fearnhill School was built for Hertfordshire County Council and has facilities including a music suite, drama studio, nine fully-size teaching laboratories  and good IT provision. A sports centre is also on site, complete with a gymnasium and tennis courts.
